THE BINSEY MISSION COMMUNITY
The church is situated in fields on the East shore of Bassenthwaite Lake. It is dedicated to the Celtic Saint, Bega.
St Cuthbert’s is 3/4mile south of Embleton village. It was built 1806 on the site of an older church.
A delightful church of c.1150.
Little evidence remains of its Norman origins due to repairs and extensions in the 16th and 19th centuries.
The Church is situated in Bassenthwaite village. St John’s is a large airy church, surrounded by a good-sized burial ground.
Ireby has one church in regular use – St James – but also has the substantial remains of an earlier church, which is situated one mile from Ireby on the road to Torpenhow.
